Belief: The Force that Controls all Decisions

Have you wondered what controls how you think and feel every moment of your day? What you choose to do and not to do, how you feel about anything that happens in your life is controlled by your beliefs.
Dr. Bernie Siegel, the author of love, medicine, and miracles, and other scientist made a discovery about individuals with different personalities, and they discovered that when some of these individuals believe that they changed into another person, their brain literally changes their biochemistry, and sometimes the color of their eyes changes as they switch personalities.
Sometimes what happens to us is not really about the circumstance, rather a matter of what we believe. Have you seen people who said they never fall sick because they don’t believe they can fall sick, and they actually don’t?
In Nigeria, where I come from, and many other parts of the African continent, many people believe in black magic and some do not. Yet, it is so surprising that those who do not believe in black magic do not get affected but those who believe highly in its power often get hurt; even when somebody playfully says, they will harm them using black magic.
Henry Ford famously said if you believe you can, you are right, if you believe you cannot, you are also right. This is why we ought to be careful about what we believe. Beliefs are very powerful, and they can affect your life negatively or positively, so choose what you believe wisely. Here are some beliefs I have developed over the years:
1. No situation is permanent. Life is like changing seasons.
2. Where there is knowing; fear does not exist. In other words, we fear something we do not know personally.
3. There’s no situation that’s impossible to turn around, you just need to find out how to make it happen.
4. I am born to succeed.
So how do we define belief? You may be asking what is the basis of belief, what is the foundation and how is it built? Let’s start by defining belief.
Belief is a strong feeling of assurance about something. I am sure you are wondering how to develop such a strong feeling and sense of assurance, but I can tell you it’s very simple, it starts with your thought.
Take this great example: when you think and say you are SMART, you may not believe it right away. But if you look for three (3) to five (5) scenarios when you made smart decisions, you are essentially laying of blocks upon each other to support that thought of I am smart. The more the scenarios you have, the stronger the foundation/building blocks turn it into a belief.
So, if you struggle with the idea that you are beautiful, loving, or intelligent, look for scenarios when people have given you compliments, or when you think those qualities were true. Use these evidences to back up the idea that you are indeed beautiful, loving and intelligent.
What are three beliefs you need to develop right now? Do you need to believe that you are lovable, that you can get a new job, that you can succeed in college, or that you can be promoted?
I want you to be practical about this: scroll down to the comment section below and write down one belief you must adopt and one belief you have adopted till date.
Remember you have the power to choose what to believe about yourself and these beliefs will determine the actions you take and inevitably the course of your life.

This message is a good reminder. My wife and I have a saying we tell ourselves often - "Everything just works out for us." The more we tell ourselves this, the more we believe it. And it has never let us down.
This is such a powerful truth that we all need to adopt!
A strong belief I have is " There is nothing I cannot learn and become excellent in!"
I believe so strongly that as a Christian, Christ lives in me and hence I have the potential energy to do amazing things!
Thank you for sharing!! One belief I must adopt: Delay is never denial! One that I’ve always adopted, there’s nothing too broken that Jesus cannot fix!
